Horses & Hearts, Letter H Sponge Painting
Invest in some Alphabet and misc. sponges for crafts like this. They are about $2 or $3 per bag at Walmart. Also available from school supply stores. We use ours to make a page like this for every letter we are learning from September through May. Parents are encouraged to take them home and post them where the child can see and practice every day. When we finish the entire alphabet they can make them into a book or put them into a binder.

"Hh" is for Heart Hat
Make hats out of strips of construction paper. We stamped them with the letter H & Hearts.
Group Time Activity
"Hh" is for Hats
Bring in a variety of hats to share with children, and invite them to bring in hats from home as well. (As an alternative you can also use the construction paper hats you make as a class - above). Encourage children to wear their hats as you go on a hat parade around the classroom or on a neighborhood walk. As you parade around, ask volunteers to supply h words to complete this chant:____ makes me happy! Horses make me happy! Holidays make me happy! etc.
