Ll page
Carl's Corner Letter L - This comes with a sheet to color, cut, and paste to the letter.
Letter L & Ladybug Sponge Painting
The ladybug was made with construction paper. Give children a red oval to cut out and head shape, dots and wiggle eyes to glue on. Glue to the page and sponge paint L's. Invest in some Alphabet and misc. sponges for crafts like this. They are about $2 or $3 per bag at Walmart. Also available from school supply stores. We use ours to make a page like this for every letter we are learning from September through May. Parents are encouraged to take them home and post them where the child can see and practice every day. When we finish the entire alphabet they can make them into a book or put them into a binder.
Group Time Activity
Listening For L's
Show children how to make a capital L with their thumb an forefinger. Explain that you will say several words, some that begin with the letter l and some that do not. Tell them to listen very carefully. When they hear a word that begins with the l sound, have them make an l with their hands and hold them up. Use L words such as lion, lake, lizard, lamb, log, lemon, ladder, leak, love, like, listen, and look.
