Letter "Xx" Recognition Craft Projects & Activities

We spend one week reinforcing each letter with crafts and activities after it is introduced.

"Xx" is for Xylophones

We downloaded the coloring sheet from First School letter X web page but I think next time we will just cut our own rectangles from colored construction paper to create our xylophones.

"Xx" is for Xylophone.

Copy and paste several of these xylophone pictures to a page for children to cut out and glue to the letter.

Other ideas for collaging with letter Xx,
This is a tough one, you can try to find a picture of an x ray,

First-School Letter Xx page

Carl's Corner Letter X - This comes with a sheet to color, cut, and paste to the letter.

Letter X & Tic Tac Toe Sponge Painting
Invest in some Alphabet and misc. sponges for crafts like this. They are about $2 or $3 per bag at Walmart. Also available from school supply stores. We use ours to make a page like this for every letter we are learning from September through May. Parents are encouraged to take them home and post them where the child can see and practice every day. When we finish the entire alphabet they can make them into a book or put them into a binder.

X Marks the Spot
Give children a treasure map and mark it with an X. Go on a treasure hunt. Email me if you would like me to send you the treasure map we used for this.

Group Time Activity

Xylophone

Make a Xylophone by taking glass tumblers, glasses, or small jars and filling them with different levels of water (ranging from full to empty)from empty to full. Let children make music by tapping on the glasses with a spoon (wooden or metal).

X Snacks

Provide several different finger foods children cn use to form x's such as pretzel sticks, carrot and celery sticks, cheese strips, licorice, breadsticks, etc. Invite children to arrange food pieces into x's befrore eating them. Then, challenge them to make both capital and lowercase letters.
